Don't you love it when...

you figured out where you knew them from?

...like when i remembered that Jesse McCartney was part of the group Dream street
...or figured out that way way back in the day, Fergie was actually in a group called Wild Orchids
...or how Drew Seeley was in a group called Nu Ground
...and how half of the Cheetah Girls were really part of 3LW
(Most of these were the less known groups. i'm sure i can come up with more later)

then there's when you figured out where their name sounded familiar from...
...like when The Fray got popular and i realized i had their song from a free itunes download from before
...and when itunes gave me Colbie Callait's "Bubbly"
...or Jon Mclaughlin before "Enchanted", when i got the best free download ever with a song by him

...and now recently with the talk among my friends about "the script", i recognized that name because i think i got a free starbucks download of theirs a while back (must be cuz i can't find the card anymore), unless it was another point for itunes. but after listening to more songs, i realized that they sounded like a mixture of a couple different artists but i can't pinpoint all of them. then i came across a description of the group and it turns out that two of the members were part of a group called Mytown back in the late 90's during the boy band phase. and hello, this is me we're talking about, OF COURSE i know who they are. actually i loved them and their songs! a decade later, apparently i still like their sound.

chances are, if they were a boy band or in the pop scene during the 1998-2000 (oh heck, probably till now too), i probably have heard of them. even worse, i probably own an album or single by them. the entertainment industry has seriously made SO much money off of me alone.

Fearless
By Taylor Swift

'But would they write a song for you?'

So can i just reiterate how awesome Taylor Swift is? Reasons why i think she is amazing (in no particular order):

1) Lyrics. She writes all her own songs and they are so easy to relate to. she puts everything i wanna say into a song.
2) Melodies: The tunes are super catchy!
3) She speaks her mind and doesn't filter her feelings out. if you break her heart, she WILL write a song about you.
4) Teardrops On My Guitar
5) Hidden messages

#5 leads into what i really wanna discuss. So, there was this one day at the end of last year where i was sitting in the car in front of the Quickly's in Millbrae waiting for my friends. i had just gotten Taylor's "Fearless" album. i decided to look at the lyrics in the CD jacket (btw, i love when artists put their lyrics in there. makes life easier for me). well i was reading along as i was listening to her CD and i noticed that certain letters were capitalized randomly, yet i knew it wasn't random. my FIRST instinct was that it spelled something else. Taylor is too creative to capitalize letters randomly. but the reason i realized it was cuz i watch too many of those spy shows. i like hidden messages cuz they make life fun! but then my friends showed up and i forgot about it.

then i was on youtube and apparently hecka people already noticed the same thing and have decoded it. so i had to look up the hidden messages from the first CD since i don't have that physical CD, just the songs. so do i love her for putting hidden messages in her cd jacket in the lyrics? well yes, but that isn't why i mentioned it. i mention it cuz this is TOTALLY something i would do! if i was a singer and had a cd jacket to write, i would totally do that. in fact, i have done that in a way.

One time i had to write a sonnet for a class i was taking. i had seen this message a friend of mine had saved that used the first letter of each word to spell something out (i'm sure that friend knows who they are). and i kinda stole that idea to use for what i had to write. i ended up making up sentences that really didn't make sense just so that the first letter of each word would spell something out. by hey, shakespeare wrote sonnets that don't sound like they make sense until you dig into it. but man, i just wanna be taylor's friend!

Breaking Dawn (The Twilight Saga, Book 4)
By Stephenie Meyer
see related
Yesterday was a historical day in the life of Helenda. i finished not only one, but FOUR books, an entire series actually, each of which were about 500-750ish pages. and of course by now u all know that it's the Twilight Saga. of course i would choose the tween craze to get into right? more like IT chose ME. but i love vampire stuff and vampire love stories. so tragically appealing. i gave a little thank you speech to my friends in a funny way cuz they are the ones that got me to read it.

The only reason this is a big deal is cuz everyone knows i HATE to read. reading, especially something over 100 pages was never even a remote possibility. i get easily distracted and i can't focus and i have to reread stuff. some people call it ADD, and those people would probably be correct cuz i hecka think i have ADD sometimes lol. but i guess this book was just an easy read because it made u wanna keep going to find out what happens. i'm not saying the plot was the best ever, since i got annoyed at certain characters a lot. but i was invested in what happened to them. i get attached and i just fell in love with them as well, like i wanted to BE there.

well, after telling everyone, i'm sure they are glad i am finally finished so i will stop bothering them with my comments. and stop scaring them with the fact that i am reading. you can say i had a fear of reading, and no i conqured it! i feel quite accomplished. will i continue this whole "reading" thing? that is the question ppl keep asking me. probably not. i don't have plans to. i enjoyed my tv series and movies more. usually when i finish a tv series on dvd, i get sad, like withdrawls. like i don't know what to do next. with Twlight, i don't feel sad, but rather content and accomplished. i just wanted to know what happens to everyone.

anyways, thanks for following my 2 month journey. it has been fun to have something to look foward to each night.

the end.

mad libs

So today's episode of grey's anatomy was good. considering the horrible plot lines lately, i did enjoy today's. i even shed a tear there. however, i was disappointed in one thing that all the interviews with shonda rimes hinted would NOT be the case. so we'll have to see how that unfolds.

When did leaving/finishing school be a sad thing? uhhh, the moment that it happened! being home and unemployed is quite lame i must say. i miss all my friends. i miss having my friends down the street. can we all just move back to santa cruz for a year and just work and play? that would be super fun! i remember each day thinking about what we should make for dinner. my favorite conversations/scenarios sound something like this:

Roommate: What are we eating for dinner?
Me: i dunno, what do we have and what did we eat yesterday?
Roommate: well, pick a meat. chicken, ground beef, tri tip...?
Me: okay, (choice in meat) with (something else) sounds good.
*Roommate and Myself preparing food*
*phone rings*
Me: Hello?
Our friends: Hey, so what are we having for dinner?
Me: we're having (stuff we are cooking) come over, dinner will be ready at 8
Our friends: haha great, see you at 8 sharp.
*hangs up
Me: Hey, make two more, so and so are coming over for dinner
Roommate: okay

HAHA, this might not be funny at all to you, but remembering these conversations that we would have with our friends when one apt didn't wanna cook is hilarious! this conversation works vice versa too cuz sometimes we'd call them and ask the same thing. i really miss them! we kinda all had our signature dishes that we specialized in, while also assisting in the others.

so being at home and unemployed, i need to think of some cool things to do with my time. i'm working on this one idea, but so far, it doesn't seem like it will be a success. we shall see.

broken heart

i swear this is what it probably feels like to get beat up haha.

i went snowboarding yesterday and i'm so sore. of course, this is the kinda pain i love cuz it makes me feel like i did something with my life and it's like a huge workout. more like i pretend to think that i worked out, but in reality, i probably just don't snowboard correctly haha. oh well. but seriously i hurt everytime i move too much. i can't cough or laugh. my forarms hurt (luckily my fingers are okay to type. cept my left thumb kinda hurts and i dunno why. but i don't really need it that much to type). my butt hurts cuz i feel on it a lot obviously. my calves hurt from going heal side like all day (cuz i'm scared of going toeside). my neck is killing me on my right side so it hurts to turn or get up from laying down. i need a heat back. then the part that hurts the most is my heart area. it felt like i broke it. i completely ate it this one time, and i fell forward and couldn't breathe. when i think about it now, it's kinda funny, but it was NOT funny at the time. so when i breathe or get up or something it hecka hurts!

BUT i know i'll be fine in like 2 days. i just like to complain.

dennis: so did you tear it up snowboarding?
helenda: more like it tore me up!

on a side note...last friday i was hanging out in san jose with chris, angela, and josh. josh asked me if he could see my phone so i gave it to him. he pushed random buttons and then eventually got to my walkman part.

Me: what do you wanna listen to?
Joshua: Hannah Montana
Me, Angela and Chris: WHAT?

HAHA josh is a 3 year old boy! and he is asking for hannah montana! he needs to go outside and play in some dirt or something! i love hannah montana but i haven't talked to him about hannah montana in like a few months! i only told him about her cuz he thinks hannah montana and sharpay from high school musical are the same person! and he likes sharpay. but i thought that was a freakin hilarious moment right there.
